Questions about
in-home counselling
A few common questions people ask before booking
-
Not much at all. You do not need to have anything written down or know exactly what you want to talk about. It can help to choose a part of the home where you feel comfortable and where you are likely to have some privacy, but otherwise we can simply start with what has been happening lately.
-
Yes. In-home counselling is available for women and mothers across Townsville and surrounding areas. Travel within 20km of Alligator Creek is included, and appointments outside that area may incur a small travel fee.
-
That is completely okay. One of the benefits of in-home counselling is that it can work around real family life. If your children are at home, we can work with what is practical for you. Where possible, having some privacy can help you feel more comfortable speaking openly, but your home does not need to be perfectly quiet.
-
Yes. The same confidentiality principles apply to in-home counselling as they do to private or online sessions. The main difference is that, because the session takes place in your home, it is worth considering whether other people may be able to overhear. We can talk through this together if privacy is a concern.
-
That is completely understandable. You do not need to feel ready to talk about everything straight away. The first session can simply be a chance to get comfortable, talk about what has been happening and see how the support feels for you.
-
Absolutely. In-home counselling is simply one way to access support. If you would prefer to attend my private counselling space in Alligator Creek or speak online from your own space, those options are available too.
-
In-home counselling may suit women and mothers who are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, managing parenting pressures, finding it difficult to leave the house, or simply wanting support in a familiar environment. It can also be a practical option when travel, family responsibilities or everyday life make attending an appointment elsewhere harder.
